Battle of Scheer Station Belligerents: United Council & Laws of the Centicrus vs Reich von die Wasser-Krieger Backstory:After launching the primary attacks, a small UCLC flotilla went on a hunter killer mission. They ram smack into the middle of a formation of Reich destroyers that were en route to Wasser to assist. The Battle took place outside a small Hai naval base known as Scheer Station. Points of Interest: Warlike: The Hai are bred and trained for war practically since birth, as a result they have greater combat effectiveness.
Esharan Steel (Trade Good) : Hai ships are more robust and difficult to destroy Forces: Reich: 3 Destroyers UCLC: 2 Advanced Frigates 1 Destroyer Posting Order:-UCLC -Reich -Modmark *This is a Minor Battle, there will be 2 modmarks .

"Looks like a returning patrol sir." The scanning officer suggested to captain Achini's annoyance.
"Yes it certainly does." He heaved. "Spread out, keep us between the destroyers and Wasser, we don't want them interfering with the battle yet. Have the Little Mantis (Destroyer) stay behind us for this one. Assist fire and escapee intercept only, I don't want to lose him because they were smart enough to aim for the only vulnerable ship here.
"Targeting solution plotted."
"Fire at will, prioritize closest. I want clear kills today."

Well the three Raum destroyers were sorely out classed, but that didn't affect the hauptmann's or the kampher crew. The three ships devised a plan since there was no running away from battle in the Hai's way of life. That and their presence was needed to defend their worlds. The formed into a triangle formation with two destroyers level and even and the third slightly behind and below the two leads.
All three focused on one of the frigates as they closed distance with the UCLC battle group at full speed. The whole goal was to do as much damage if not destroy before moving onto the next target. The lone destroyer that flew in the back of the formation had a secondary role. Once they had closed its Hauptmann and the kampher aboard had the honor of sacrificing themselves in breaking off of the assault of one frigate and try a ramming attempted of the other frigate.

Moderation Mark
The RWK lead destroyer Agir soaked up the heavy punishment as the vessels attempted to push their way through the line. Indeed, it might have been only because of the Esharan steel that the ships were built with that they survived the opening salvos. The battle was short and pitched, superior Hai plasma weapons having deadlier effects as they closed the gap. The UCLC frigate Wasp took a punishing hit that left it with only 20% engine power, but in the end it wasn't enough for the Hai vessels to break through.
The Agir succumbed to its wounds as it almost gracefully flipped over onto its starboard flank before tearing in two. Her sister ship the RWK destroyer Deflin primed its engines and made a suicide run for the wounded UCLC frigate at full speed while the last and final RWK destroyer attempted to lay down covering fire.
Casualties: Reich: 1 Destroyer (DESTROYED) 1 Destroyer (60% Effectiveness)
UCLC: 1 Advanced Frigate (75% effectiveness, disabled engines)

"Full power to the engines! Take us on a collision course with that Destroyer - fifteen degree angle of impact! Set thrusters for rapid starboard rotation!" The Frigate Spidercap's engines roared as the ship rushed forward between the crippled Wasp and the suicidal destroyer.
It was an ingenious maneuver. By heavily slanting the angle of impact and giving the ship a rotating spin, Captain Achini ensured that the enemy destroyer would be destroyed or deflected by his heavier frigate with minimal damage to his own craft. It would mean far less damage than allowing the enemy to strike directly into the broadside of the Wasp.
Of course, the ship's guns were not inactive during all of this. By the Captain's orders, all fire was now concentrated on the third, intact destroyer, including fire joined in by their own Destroyer, the Little Mantis, which now maneuvered to the fleet's flank.

Hauptmann Ferral spoke above the sound of collision alarms. "Fire dorsal thrusters and increase attack angle vector. Concentrate fire on their wounded section to see if we can destroyer her before we hit."
The RWK Deflin had sustained some damage in the first volleys of between the two fleets, but the hauptmann wasn't about to allow the other frigate prevent him from his intended target. By firing the dorsal thrusters and increasing the attack vector, Ferral hoped it would push his ship under the collision angle of the undamaged frigate and bring his own ship into the belly of the damaged UCLC frigate.
The RWK Kell changed its targeting from one damaged frigate to the one on a collision course with her sister ship. The weapons officers had the targeting computer locked onto the forward section of the UCLC frigate [Spidercap] in hopes of striking the bridge and crippling the frigate. With one Reich destroyer already gone the odds that the patrol fleet survival greatly diminished, but that wasn't a concern. As long as they could destroy or at least prevent this fleet from aiding and or fleeing the system, then they had won themselves an honored place in the Annals.

Moderation Mark In the deadly ballet of death, ships that weighed thousands of tons couldn't exactly turn on a dime and that went for both vessels that were about to smash into each other (in the most expensive game of chicken imaginable). The Deflin careened towards the wounded UCLC frigate, warning klaxons screamed the continuing volleys ripping into the hulls of both fleets. In the end however, the Spidercaps intervention would be enough to 'nudge' the Deflin off its course. But at a price, the entire forward prow of the Spidercap was sheared off leaving extensive damage to its hull. Fires raged throughout the ship as the Spidercap limped away. Meanwhile, the Deflin and Kell couldn't match the firepower that was arrayed against them. The Deflin's engines were knocked out, and soon after she was dead in the water. Her Captain chose to scuttle the ship. Meanwhile, the Kell doggedly kept fighting until a torpedo struck one of her forward gun generators and she exploded in a bright flash of light taking all hands. Afteraction Report:Result: Reich flotilla destroyed, two UCLC frigates out of action for the forseeable future with extensive loss of life onboard the Spidercap. CASUALTIES:Reich:3 Destroyers [DESTROYED] UCLC:1 Advanced Frigate (75% effectiveness) 1 Advanced Frigate (50% effectiveness, out of action for the next battle)
